Vertebral subluxation or subluxation for short is a misalignment of one or more vertebrae of the spine. This misalignment interferes with the spinal cord and/or nerves. These subluxations are caused by physical, mental, and chemical stress.
The purpose of the nervous system is to control and coordinate the functions of every organ, system, tissue and cell of the body. When it is running at peak efficiency it maintains a 100% state of health and well being. The nervous system is responsible for sending messages to and from your brain. It keeps communications open between your brain and the rest of your body and its systems.
A subluxation can alter or prevent the flow of signals from your brain to the rest of your body. Subluxations can go unnoticed for years however, over time the reduced nervous system function caused by a subluxation can lead to deterioration of your body's systems. It can prevent your body's various systems (nervous, respiratory, circulatory, digestive, immune, etc.) from performing to their greatest potential. Moreover, a subluxation left uncorrected will result in early
Some of the effects of subluxations are listed in the table below. The bones listed are from the top of your spine to the bottom. Chiropractors correct these misalignments by delivering a safe, gentle and specific force known as a chiropractic adjustment.
